1. Camps & Events: Working with Camps & Events builds organizational, event planning, and communication skills. Students gain direct experience in managing logistics, coordinating events, and delivering excellent customer service, all of which are key to career readiness in any field. Team members will become proficient in all Microsoft Programs and develop excellent oral and written communication skills, attributes desired in all career fields.
2. Counseling Services Paraprofessional: Counseling Services Paraprofessional: As a Counseling Services paraprofessional, students develop research, advertising, and promotion skills related to careers in mental health and wellness. Communication, event planning, and organizational skills are also developed. Exploring various social media and advertising platforms occur. They also build collaboration and teamwork skills. They learn the importance of empathy, active listening, and critical thinking through mental health initiatives. Students learn the value and importance of confidentiality, as these are critical in roles related to healthcare, human services, and leadership.
3. Dining Services & Catering: In Dining Services & Catering, students strengthen their time management, teamwork, and customer service abilities. Managing fast-paced environments and delivering quality service prepares them for a variety of careers after college.
4. ETK – Entertainment ToKnight: Being part of ETK offers students experience in event coordination, marketing, and leadership. Managing entertainment events enhances their project management skills, creativity, and ability to collaborate with diverse teams, key competencies for careers in media, communications, business and much more.
5. International Student Services (Student Drivers & Orientation Staff): By assisting with student transportation and orientation, students develop intercultural communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. These experiences are critical for roles in global business, education, or any career that values cross-cultural competence.
6. Multicultural Student Services: Students working in Multicultural Student Services grow their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, while honing leadership and advocacy skills. This experience is particularly beneficial for careers in social work, education, human resources and more.
7. Orientation Leader: Orientation Leaders foster their public speaking, mentoring, and teamwork skills as they guide new students through their transition to college life. They gain leadership and communication experience, preparing them for careers in education, business, and any leadership-oriented role.
8. Peer Mentor: Peer Mentors help fellow students with their academic and personal transition to college. Each section of SEM 100 (first-year seminar) is assigned a mentor who will attend class twice a week and interact as directed by the course instructor. Mentors serve as a peer support resource in the classroom as well as through one-on-one meetings outside of the classroom. These roles prepare students for a wide range of helping professions.
9. Resident Assistant: Resident Assistants (RAs) strengthen leadership, conflict resolution, and community-building skills while building a safe and inclusive living environment. These roles prepare students for careers in management, education, and roles that require strong people skills.
10. Student Success Coach – Career Services: Students working in Career Services enhance their networking, career coaching, and communication skills. They gain insight into job search strategies and career development, preparing them for human resources (HR), business, and other career readiness-focused roles.
