Handshake is an online system designed to connect students, alumni and employers during their internship or job search process. The system allows students to upload resumes/cover letters, search and apply for internships/jobs and learn about each organization in the system. Employers can post jobs and internships, search student resumes. Students and employers will also be able to register for Wartburg career events (such as career fairs, mock interview days, etc.).

Employers have the ability to:

  • Search specifically for Wartburg students to hire the finest in the East or West!
  • Post or share job openings with Wartburg students.
  • Connect with students and alumni from 900+ colleges and universities nationwide with one click!
  • Narrow down applicants to find the best fit through advanced filters on a customizable interface.

Whether you’re searching for a full-time or part-time employee, or a student to fill an internship, Handshake can facilitate the process.

Tip: Alumni can create an alumni account and employer account. To do this, use a personal email and employer email to differentiate.  Your employer account will be linked to your employer.

Our Handshake Job Board is reserved for internships, on-campus jobs, and full-time jobs. The posting of personal tasks such as yardwork, moving, or nanny and babysitting jobs are not permitted.

  1. Login to Handshake 
  2. Select login or create new account
  3. Select Employer
  4. Select your company/organization OR create a profile for your company/organization.
  5. Select “Wartburg College” to post jobs/opportunities for Wartburg Knights to view. Add any additional schools you would like to recruit from. 

ON-CAMPUS JOBS
To post on-campus jobs, Wartburg College employees should contact Abbie Raum, Student Employment Coordinator at 319-352-8350.

  1. Login to Handshake Your account is pre-loaded; use your Wartburg login information.
  2. Customize your profile and put your best self forward to employers and partners by adding a resume, a profile picture, your career interests, work experience, etc.
  3. Be sure to make your profile viewable by selecting the community option.  This will allow others and employers to see your information.
  4. Use the search bar and filters to look for companies and opportunities you’re interested in learning more about or applying to.
  5. Find and apply for positions, sign-up for on-campus interviews, and more!

It will appear when you create an alumni account that you are a student. Don’t worry, Handshake allows you access to the same view as current students. Within Handshake, you are designated as a Wartburg College alum.

  3. Select Student/Alumni
  4. In the School Box select “Wartburg College”
  5. After submitting your profile, Wartburg will review it and verify your account. Once it is approved, you will receive an email letting you know your account is approved and ready for use.
