WORKPLACE EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

• LGBTQ+ Career Resources – Excellent resource guide from Lawrence University’s Career Services office. The guide provides information on resumes, interviews, employer research, workplace discrimination, and coming out in the workplace.
• Pride at Work – Mobilizes mutual support between the organized Labor Movement and the LGBT community around organizing for social and economic justice. 
• Out & Equal – “Out & EqualTM Workplace Advocates” is the pre-eminent national organization devoted to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in the workplace. Website includes resources, links and information about their national event.
• Human Rights Campaign – Information on workplace and corporate policies related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Search the WorkNet Employer Database for information about several hundred organizations’ policies, LGBT employee group contacts, and more. This site pays the most attention to transgender issues in the workplace.

• Out for Work – Programs, resources and services that provide assistance to students in the cultivation and enhancement of skills to explore career options, master search techniques and strategies and research employment opportunities.

• Idealist.org – Thousands of job listings, most in the non-profit sector. This website allows you to search by interest and includes “GLBTQ” as an area of focus.
• DiversityWorking.com – We are the career opportunity resource and job search engine for the cultural diversity marketplace. Our employer members use our site to promote, attract and recruit a high performing and in some cases underrepresented employee.

• Alliance – This student organization works to provide a supportive and accepting environment for students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, and to educate and provide resources to the Wartburg community to encourage open discussion about diverse issues pertaining to sexuality.

• Workforce Recruitment Program’s (WRP) – This resource lets you know what federal agencies have current full and part time job openings and internships available for students with disabilities.
• United States Department of Labor Disability Resources provides resources to help people with disabilities find employment
• Ability Jobs – Job listings for companies who want to hire individuals with disabilities. Users can also post their resume and setup a job-alert email.
• Job Accommodation Network (JAN) – The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the employability of people with disabilities.
• disABLEDperson.com – Connects job seekers to employers who are proactive about recruiting people with disabilities. Post your resume, read classifieds, visit web sites of employers.
• FederalJobs.net Disabled Hiring Programs – Currently over 209,284 people with disabilities work for the federal government. This site contains information on hiring options for people with disabilities.

THINGS TO CONSIDER
As a student with a disability there are important factors for you to consider as you search for internships or employment or apply to graduate school. You may have questions about your rights, disclosure, and which laws might apply to you. Here are some resources to guide your career:

• National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP)  – A non-profit organization that offers professional development opportunities on the local and national level, engages its membership in community service, and organizes professional networking events.

• Bureau of Indian Education – Indian Affairs is unique among federal employers in that it is authorized to use an Indian Preference policy in hiring.
