“Throughout my time at Wartburg, the German Institute has provided me with opportunities in more ways than I could have imagined. Not only have I been given the honor of being a student representative on the board, but I have also been able to take advantage of what the institute has to offer. In May 2022 and the winter of 2023, I was given the opportunity to travel to Berlin to study German language and received support in numerous ways from the German Institute. Without the support of the institute, I wouldn’t have been able to fully immerse myself into the German culture. The German Institute has allowed me to fulfill a dream and enrich one of my passions that will continue to propel me into my future career – teaching German language and history,” said Hansel.

The German Institute at Wartburg College provides organization and focus for the college’s wealth of Germany-related programs, knowledge and relationships. Its founding in 2014 strengthened the college’s ties to its German heritage. Wartburg is named for the castle in Eisenach where Martin Luther took refuge during the Reformation.
