The musical portion of Wartburg College’s Homecoming & Family Weekend will include everything from an organ recital to a pop/jazz performance as well as multiple student ensembles.

The music begins Friday, Oct. 18, with the Bach’s Lunch organ recital and lecture in the Wartburg Chapel. Karen Black, Wartburg’s Rudi Inselmann Endowed Professor of Organ, will be the featured artist and will perform compositions from a variety of musical eras based on some of the songs in the earliest Lutheran hymnals. The free lecture will begin at noon, followed by a recital at 12:30 p.m.

Kastle Kapers, a longtime Homecoming tradition, features student soloists, musical ensembles and comedy acts. The show begins at 8:30 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Renowned pop/jazz singer Suede will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in Neumann Auditorium. A 1979 graduate of Wartburg, Suede has played everywhere from intimate jazz clubs to grand venues like the Kennedy Center, co-headlining with artists including Sarah McLachlan, Melissa Etheridge and Janis Ian. Tickets are $40 for premium seating and $25 for general admission. Wartburg students get in for free with their student ID.
