Wartburg College student media won 11 awards at the Iowa Broadcast News Association’s annual conference in April.

KWAR, the college’s radio station, won first place in the Public Affairs category for Matthew Tudor’s story, “Wartburg Meals to Go,” about take-out containers being offered in Mensa. Zach Hiney received first place in the Sports Coverage category for his story on Ryan Callahan, the college’s athletic trainer.

Henry Powers and Caleb Kammerer, announcers for Knight Vision, the college’s news, sports, film and streaming outlet, were recognized with a first-place award in Sports Play-by-Play for their broadcast of the Wartburg football team’s first-round playoff game against Illinois College. That station also earned a second-place finish in the Best Sportscast category for its Winter Sports Special.
