DWELL

A collection of fiber art and sculptures by Catherine Reinhart, an award-winning interdisciplinary artist based in Iowa, will be on display in Wartburg College’s Waldemar A. Schmidt Art Gallery Feb. 28 through March 25.

The exhibit, “DWELL,” considers themes of maternal time and domestic labor in relationship with the architectural, industrial and archaeological. A reception with the artist will be at 6 p.m. March 8 at the gallery. This event is free and open to the public.

“As [an] artist and mother, I am both archivist and field hand, creating studies in the accretion of domestic life and cataloging its labors. I disassemble, reconfigure and alter abandoned textiles into flag works. With these works, I join the growing ranks of a constellation of artist-mothers giving voice to the maternal and domestic experience,” said Reinhart.

Guests are invited to explore the show during daily hours, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.wartburg.edu/gallery.

Support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council, which exists within the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
