WAVERLY – Wartburg College student media garnered seven first-place awards at the Iowa Broadcast News Association annual conference held Saturday, April 29, at the Prairie Meadows Conference Center in Altoona.

KWAR-FM Radio won first place awards for Best Newscast, Sports Coverage, In-Depth Series, Feature and Public Affairs. Knight Vision, Wartburg’s news, sports, film and streaming outlet, was recognized with first-place awards for News Photography and In-Depth Series. The outlets won an additional 13 second- and third-place awards.

Individual honors went to:

  • Henry Powers, first place, Sports Coverage and In-Depth Series; second place, Sports Play-by-Play; third place, Best Sportscast.
  • Danika Rademacher, first place, Public Affairs; second place, In-Depth Series; third place, Best Sportscast and Sports Play-by-Play.
  • Sam Lockhart, first place, Photo Series.
  • Madison Freeland, first place, In-Depth Series.
  • Kobe Schmuecker, first place, In-Depth Series.
  • Lura Ajdini, first place, In-Depth Series.
  • Della Whittaker, first place, In-Depth Series.
