Several Wartburg College music ensembles will present their final concerts of the Winter Term on campus April 15-16.

The Castle Singers, under the direction of Nicki Toliver, and Kammerstreicher, under the direction of Rebecca Nederhiser, kick off the weekend with a 2 p.m. Masterworks Concert on Saturday, April 15, in the Wartburg Chapel. The ensembles will join for the movements from Franz Schubert’s Mass no. 2 in G.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, Nederhiser will lead the Wartburg Community Symphony in a performance that includes collaborations with Karen Black on the organ and the college’s two concerto winners, soprano Katelyn Kluver and saxophonist Abby Gaul.

On Sunday, the Wartburg Choir will perform at 2 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel. The concert is a preview to the ensemble’s international tour, which begins April 28 in Athens, Greece. The choir, under the direction of Lee Nelson, will travel through Greece, Italy, Austria and Germany. The stops in Germany will include a special performance at the Wartburg Castle, the college’s namesake, on May 18.

The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Jeffrey de Seriere, will follow at 4 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium. The ensemble will play pieces from its regional tour repertoire, including the Midwest premiere of “A Lullaby for John,” a Joel Puckett commission funded by the Keith and Joy Schuldt Instrumental Music Fund.
