Thirty-three Wartburg College students and recent graduates were recognized for their work with student media at the annual Iowa College Media Association awards.

KWAR, the student-run radio station, swept the Best Newscast category.

Individual awards were given to the following students and recent graduates:

Joshua Hamlyn, who earned first place in Best Sports Broadcast and Best Sports Program (Audio), second place in Best Sports Broadcast and third place in Best Video Newscast and Best Video Sportscasting.

Lauren Ulveling, who earned second place in Best Short Film and Best Air Personality. She also earned third place in Best Video Newscast and Best Show (Audio Entertainment).

Ben Revier, who earned third place in Best Video Newscast, Best Air Personality and Best Show (Audio Entertainment). He also earned second place in Best Short Film and an honorable mention in Best PSA and Best Show (Audio Entertainment).

Danika Rademacher, who earned first place in Best News Programming (Audio) and Best Sports Broadcast. She also earned third place in Best Video Sportscasting, Best Newscast (Audio) and Best Sports Program (Audio).

Abby Denault, who earned second place in Best Promo and third place in Best Video Newscast.

Madison Seitz, who earned first place in the Best Short Documentary category for her capstone documentary, “Monsters Among Us.” She also earned second place in Best Short Film and third place in Best Show (Audio Entertainment).

Kobe Schmuecker, who earned first place in the Best Short Documentary category for his capstone documentary, “Monsters Among Us.”

Alec Ille, who earned first place in the Best Short Documentary category for his capstone documentary, “Monsters Among Us.”

Lura Ajdini, who earned first place in the Best Short Documentary category for her capstone documentary, “Monsters Among Us.”

Katie Hirv, who earned first place in the Best Short Documentary category for her capstone documentary, “Monsters Among Us.”

Henry Powers, who earned second place in Best Newscast (Audio) and Best Sports Broadcast and third place in Best Sports Reporting (Print/Online) and Best Headline Writing. He also earned an honorable mention in Best Long-Form Audio Package.

Will Armstrong, who earned an honorable mention in Best News Programming (Audio).

Henry Hahn, who earned third place in Best Show (Audio Entertainment).

Payton Meisner, who earned an honorable mention in Best Sports Program (Audio).

Josh Nichols, who earned an honorable mention in Best Sports Program (Audio).

Drew Olson, who earned an honorable mention in Best Sports Program (Audio).

Morgan Schlichting, who earned an honorable mention in Best Podcast Series.

Olivia Foster, who earned third place in Best Written Feature Reporting and Best Opinion Writing. She also earned an honorable mention for Best Front Page.

Jenna White, who earned an honorable mention for Best Front Page.

Student media advisers are Ron Johnson (Cedar Valley Today), Pam Ohrt (KWAR) and Suzanne Behnke (Trumpet). Penni Pier, the department chair, oversees the capstone program. ICMA is made up of 12 Iowa colleges. The annual conference is held in conjunction with the Iowa Newspaper Association’s conference.
