Senior Danielle Peterson of Watertown, Minn., will deliver the student address at the Wartburg College Commencement on Sunday, May 29.

Retiring Wartburg President Darrel Colson chose Peterson, a history and American history education major, to give remarks on behalf of the Class of 2022 at the ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Zimmerman Field in Walston-Hoover Stadium. The ceremony will be livestreamed at www.wartburg.edu/commencement.

Peterson is a Regents Scholar and will graduate summa cum laude. She was named the Outstanding Senior in history and was president of the Wind Ensemble, Wartburg’s premier instrumental performance group. She was also vice president of Wartburg Ambassadors, historian for the Phi Eta Sigma honor society and participated in multiple stage productions on campus.

Peterson received the Wartburg College Concert Bands Spirit of the WCCB Award, an honor bestowed on band members who show dedication and commitment to the organization. She also led COVID-19 mitigation efforts within the WCCB during the 2020-21 school year, which allowed ensemble members to remain healthy while rehearsing daily.

Following graduation, Peterson will teach Spanish at Charles City High School. She is the daughter of Jon and Ruth Peterson.
