The Wartburg College Department of Journalism & Communication will host the inaugural Reel Orange Film Festival Wednesday, May 20, 5:30-6:30 p.m., at the Waverly Palace Theater.

The free festival will feature three student-produced films:

  • “Take Note,” an inspirational story of a young man who overcomes gang life and violence
  • “Some Grand Occurrences and Aquatic Misadventures in a Laundromat,” a coming-of-age dramedy about loneliness and the meaning of friendship
  • “Playing the Game,” a film about LGBTQ athletes.

Each film is 10 to 15 minutes long. A short question-and-answer session with the student producers will follow each screening.

While the films are not rated, they do contain adult language, sexual references and adult subjects. Viewers under 17 are encouraged to attend with a parent.
