Wartburg College alumnus Jim McDonough will return to his alma mater Sunday, March 29, to conclude the Wartburg College Artist Series season and program series.

The 3 p.m. show in Neumann Auditorium includes song arrangements from Broadway, the silver screen, and the big band, patriotic, inspirational, country and classical genres.

“We hope people from our entire campus community of students, faculty and staff, as well as the larger Waverly community, will come hear a widely renowned pianist create a fun and enchanting evening of entertainment,” said Graham Garner, Wartburg’s vice president of marketing and communication and interim Artist Series director.

Steinway & Sons named McDonough, a 1996 graduate, to its worldwide artist roster in 2010. He joined an exclusive international list of the most accomplished performing artists, including Lang Lang, Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., Billy Joel, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter.

“Hearing Jim play in person will be a memorable experience. It is an exciting capstone for this season, and indeed the Artist Series as a whole, to have one of Wartburg’s own come back to campus and share his success,” Garner said.

Tickets are $20 to $30 for adults and $10 for youth. They are available online at www.wartburg.edu/artist, by calling 319-352-8691 or at the Saemann Student Center Ticket Office weekdays from noon to 4 p.m.

Since 1920, the Wartburg College Artist Series, one of the longest-running college performance series in the nation, has brought in talented performers from around the globe. Though the series is coming to an end, the college will continue to offer opportunities for the community to support Wartburg students and faculty in their pursuit of the arts at performances throughout the year.
