The Maize Quartet will perform at Wartburg College Sunday, March 15, as part of the Castle Chamber Series. The program begins at 2 p.m. in the Saemann Student Center’s Hagemann Castle Room.

Since forming at the University of Iowa in 2013, the Maize Quartet has given performances across the Midwest. Its members have won several prestigious competitions and competed in the likes of the Adolphe Sax International, North American Saxophone Alliance and the MTNA Young Artist.

The quartet features John Cummins on soprano saxophone, Matthew Mahaffey on alto saxophone, Elena Pedersen on tenor saxophone and James Skretta on baritone saxophone. All are students of renowned performer and pedagogue Kenneth Tse.

The series recreates concerts from the 19th century by featuring fine chamber music in an intimate setting where attendees and performers can discuss the music. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.
