The Ritterchor men’s choir from Wartburg College will perform Saturday, March 14, at St. Cecelia Church in Algona. The 7 p.m. concert also will feature Festeburg, the college’s 10-member, student-led vocal ensemble.

The wide-ranging program includes selections in six languages and features several soloists.

“The Ritterchor is greatly looking forward to performing in the beautiful St. Cecelia Church,” said conductor Lee Nelson. “It is a high-impact concert that will please audiences of all ages.”

A donation will be collected to support Wartburg scholarships and music tours.

The concert will follow the Ritterchor’s performance as the guest ensemble at the Man Up and Sing Choir Festival in Sioux City the night before. Each fall, the Ritterchor hosts the Real Men Sing choral festival that brings more than 500 singers of all ages to Wartburg.

Founded in 1997, the Ritterchor (“Knights Choir” in German) follows Wartburg’s rich German Lutheran tradition of choral singing and connection with Wartburg Castle, where Martin Luther once lived disguised as a knight.
