Aaron Strumpel, an alternative Christian recording artist and Wartburg College alumnus, will perform at his alma mater Wednesday, March 11.

The free concert begins at 7 p.m. in Wartburg Chapel.

Strumpel has recorded several full-length, solo albums, as well as numerous solo EPs and other collaborative projects. Christianity Today called his second solo effort, “Elephants,” a “stunning achievement,” while USA Today said it was “a fresh reminder of the literary and musical beauty of the Bible.” The album also won the Calvin College Band-spotting Contest at the Festival of Faith and Arts. Strumpel released his latest album, “Bright Star,” in February.

“Within the Christian music world, Aaron is a rarity. Because he graduated with a worship studies minor, he is deeply connected to the musical history of the church, particularly the Psalms,” said the Rev. Brian Beckstrom, campus pastor. “He has a gift for reinterpreting the past in new and unique ways.”
