Waverly and Wartburg College have been chosen as one of four domestic Stopover locations on the 2015 Mumford & Sons Gentlemen of the Road summer tour.

The Grammy Award-winning, British, folk rock band will be in Waverly June 19-20. The two-day event will include performances from internationally known artists like My Morning Jacket, The Flaming Lips, Dawes, Jenny Lewis, The Maccabees, The Very Best, JEFF The Brotherhood and Blake Mills. Additional performers will be announced as the date nears.

Tickets go on sale March 6 at 10 a.m. at www.gentlemenoftheroad.com/tickets. Additional information will be available online.

“This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we are so excited to be a partner in making this happen,” said Graham Garner, Wartburg’s vice president for marketing and communication. “Waverly is a wonderful community, and Wartburg is proud to call it home. We are ideally situated to host a festival of this nature, not just because of our great location, but because the people here know how to serve and lead to make good things happen.”

Each Stopover combines the intimacy of a community celebration with the excitement of a world-class music festival. Mumford & Sons will headline the Saturday show, alongside the eclectic and energetic roster of artists curated by the band. A series of smaller events involving local businesses, venues and people will take place in and around Waverly.

About this year’s upcoming Stopover tour, Mumford & Sons said: “The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are all about live music. We get to put them on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in busses or splitter vans. We deliberately look for towns that have something unique, or some vibe of which they are proud, explore them and enjoy what they have to offer.”

Other Stopover locations are Seaside Heights, New Jersey; Walla Walla, Washington; and Salida, Colorado.

“We are excited to welcome the more than 35,000 people who will be coming to our community to attend this great musical event,” said Travis Toliver, executive director of the Waverly Chamber of Commerce. “We know they will find Waverly is a welcoming city full of great people and places to eat, shop and play. We are committed to making this a successful event for our community, our residents and our guests.”

The band, which also announced its third studio album, “Wilder Mind,” today, will headline performances at this year’s Bonnaroo, Squamish, Reading & Leeds Festivals, Open’er Festival, Bilbao BBK Live and Nos Alive Festival. “Wilder Mind,” featuring 12 new tracks, will be in stores May 4 or is available to pre-order at www.mumfordandsons.com
