Wartburg College’s St. Elizabeth Chorale will perform Saturday, Feb. 21, at United Methodist Church in Albert Lea.

The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will include selections from the Medieval period through the 21st century. The program also will feature the Albert Lea High School Varsity Choir, conducted by Diane Heaney. St. Elizabeth Chorale conductor Karen Black and Heaney are members of the Kiester High School Class of 1979.

The concert will provide an opportunity for Wartburg senior and Albert Lea native Morgan Ciota to collaborate with her high school choir.

“It will be very special to sing with the St. Elizabeth Chorale in my hometown and get to show everyone the great program I was able to be a part of prior to coming to Wartburg,” Ciota said. “I am most looking forward to singing ‘Barter’ by René Clausen. St. Elizabeth Chorale had the opportunity to meet and work with him on campus. It was amazing to sing ‘Barter’ for him and to hear his interpretation of the beautiful text.”

St. Elizabeth Chorale will sing Sunday in the 9 a.m. service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The 48-member group also will perform at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea Saturday afternoon. Such outreach is incorporated into the chorale’s concert trips as a reflection of St. Elizabeth, the 13th century German noblewoman who dedicated her life to service.

Freewill donations will be accepted at the evening performance to support student music scholarships and future ensemble tours.
