Wartburg College’s Castle Chamber Series continues Sunday, Jan. 11 with a concert featuring soprano Jennifer Larson and pianist Jeffrey Price.

The program, “Schubertiade on the Rocks, with a Twist,” will be at 2 p.m. in Saemann Student Center’s Hagemann Castle Room. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.

Larson, associate professor of voice at Wartburg, has performed throughout the United States, as well as in Canada and Europe, in major operatic roles and as a concert soloist and recitalist. Price is an associate professor of piano at the University of Utah and opera coach at La Musica Lirica in Italy.

The program features well-loved and lesser-known works of Franz Schubert as well as the premiere of works by Price, an accomplished composer. Larson said it also includes “a surprise or two.”

Wartburg professor of music Eric Wachmann will perform on clarinet. Wachmann has performed extensively with professional orchestral, chamber and jazz ensembles in the United States, Canada and Europe. He is principal clarinetist with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony.

The series recreates concerts from the 19th century by featuring fine chamber music in an intimate setting where attendees and performers can discuss the music. Schubertiades are concerts inspired by gatherings during Schubert’s lifetime celebrating his music.
