Six Wartburg College students and faculty have been honored for their commitment to service as part of the annual St. Elizabeth Week celebration.

Paris White, Ashley Lahti and Tawanda Murinda received the St. Elizabeth Award for Service, which recognizes students who exemplify a commitment to service and desire to live a life that embodies the college’s mission.

White, a senior religion major from Muscatine, is president of the Suicide Awareness for Everyone organization, a resident assistant and involved with campus ministries.

Lahti, a junior neuroscience major from Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, is part of Adopt-a-Grandparent, the Neuroscience Brains Club, Habitat for Humanity and Knights of the Page, a group of students trained to handle “The Saint John’s Bible” during its year on campus.

Murinda, a senior engineering science major from Zimbabwe, is involved with the Volunteer Action Center, Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry and service trips. 

Brian Beckstrom, LeAnn Faidley and Bill Soesbe received the Pastor Larry Trachte Award for Service, given to faculty or staff who embody his enthusiasm, support, dedication and overall commitment to Wartburg’s mission of service. Trachte is a Wartburg graduate and former campus pastor.

Beckstrom, the college pastor, volunteers his time to Wartburg Service Trips. Faidley, an assistant professor of engineering science, partakes in The Way of Jesus program through campus ministry. Soesbe, an assistant professor of education, has adviser roles with the Wartburg Association of Student Educators and Kappa Delta Pi.
