The Castle Chamber Series: Music in the Afternoon will open its fourth season at Wartburg College Sunday, Nov. 16. Trio 826 will perform at 2 p.m. in the Castle Room of Saemann Student Center.

The series recreates concerts from the 19th century by featuring fine chamber music in an intimate setting where attendees and performers can discuss the music.

Trio 826, an Iowa-based group of classical music innovators including University of Northern Iowa professor Julia Bullard, features violin, viola and cello. The trio’s performance — its second for the Castle Chamber Series — will include works by Purcell, Beethoven, John Harbison and Julius Röntgen. Tickets are available at the door for $10. Students may attend for free with a valid ID.

The Castle Chamber Series continues Sunday, Jan. 11. Jennifer Larson, Wartburg associate professor of voice, will present a “Schubertiade,” a concert inspired by gatherings during Schubert’s lifetime celebrating his music.
