Wartburg College’s Players Theatre will put a unique spin on Richard Wagner’s four-part opera cycle, “The Ring of the Nibelung,” with three condensed performances this week.

The troupe will add puppets and subtract music from the German composer’s epic saga of gods, heroes and mythical creatures battling for a magic ring that grants world domination.

The curtain will rise at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-8, in McCaskey Lyceum of the Saemann Student Center. Freewill donations will be accepted at the door.

Players Theatre is a student drama organization under the direction of William Earl, associate professor of journalism and communication.
