Wartburg history organizations host cemetery tours

The Wartburg College History Club and Phi Alpha Theta honor society will host their second annual Harlington Cemetery Tour Sunday, Nov. 2.

Participants can walk amongst the graves with Terry Lindell, professor of history, as he shares stories of Waverly’s past residents and points out fascinating details about burial traditions of bygone years.

Tours begin at 1 and 3 p.m. in the cemetery parking lot, 1001 First St. SW, Waverly. Proceeds from the $5 admission charge will benefit the two student organizations. The College and Black Student Union partnered to bring Rodney Lewis of Rodney's Kitchen in Waterloo to campus to prepare a traditional Black meal for dinner in Mensa as part of the College and organization's celebration of Black History Month, as reported by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier. 

Maribel Lopez ’10 has been named the head of PBS Digital Studios, where she will oversee the station's efforts to further drive content delivery and audience development across multiple digital platforms. 

Ethan Schellhorn ’25 was one of eight college students to receive the MercyOne Friends of Waterloo Medical Center scholarship for 2021, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier. 

Silvia Oakland ’21 is serving as the in-kind gifts officer for N Street Village in Washington, D.C., as volunteer for the Lutheran Volunteer Corps.
