The Wartburg Community Symphony opens its 2014-15 season Saturday, Oct. 18, with guest cellist Jay Campbell.

Campbell will be the featured performer in “The Charming Cello” concert at 8 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium. The New York Times has praised Campbell for electrifying performances that “conveyed every nuance.” Campbell won the 2012 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh International Competition and has collaborated with artists from Elliott Carter to members of Radiohead.

The concert will include Camille Saint-Saens’ “Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor” and Gabriel Faure’s “Elegie.” It will conclude with Edward Elgar’s “Enigma Variations.”
