Wartburg College will host The Good Samaritan, its annual middle school youth day, Saturday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 6:30 p.m.

Wartburg student leaders will engage middle school youth and adult leaders in activities, including leadership development, Bible study with The Saint John’s Bible and service outreach with Water to Thrive, a faith-based nonprofit that raises money to build wells in rural Africa. Two volumes of The Saint John’s Bible, the first handwritten and illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine abbey in more than 500 years, are on campus and will be available to see and touch during the activities.

There also will be time to unwind at the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center.

“This is a great opportunity to make connections and strengthen congregational partnerships through leadership, service, faith and learning,” said Gail Sexton, event organizer and Wartburg’s coordinator of church relations and faith community outreach. “Our goal is to equip the youth and their leaders with knowledge and tools to bring back to their own congregations.”

Registration is available online at www.wartburg.edu/churchrelations through Saturday, Oct. 18. The $5 fee includes educational sessions, recreational activities and dinner. A portion will be donated to Water to Thrive.
