Nearly 700 vocalists from across the Midwest will perform in the fifth annual Real Men Sing concert Saturday, Oct. 4, at Wartburg College.

Internationally recognized men’s group Rockapella will headline the concert at 5 p.m. in Neumann Auditorium, which also features male choirs with singers ranging in age from middle school to adult.

Concert admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for those 5 and under. Seating is limited and has sold out early in previous years. Tickets can be purchased at www.wartburg.edu/festivals.

Tesfa Wondemagenehu, conductor of the American Public Media Radio Choir, and Lee Nelson, Wartburg director of choral activities and Zahn Chair in Choral Conducting, will direct the festival choirs.  The West Delaware High School Bass Clef Choir, Wartburg men’s groups Ritterchor and Festeburg, and Wartburg music professor Brian Pfaltzgraff also will perform.

Real Men Sing festival participants will attend voice master classes and workshops led by Rockapella and Wondemagenehu leading up to the concert.

“I am very excited to have the participants work with our outstanding guest clinicians,” Nelson said. “They are perfect examples of men who have embraced lifelong music-making and been exceptionally successful in the music industry.”

Rockapella also will perform Sunday, Oct. 5, 7:30 p.m., in Neumann Auditorium as a part of Wartburg’s Artist Series. The group has achieved international fame singing covers of pop songs and original songs since the early ’90s. Tickets can be purchased online at www.wartburg.edu/artist or through the ticket office in Saemann Student Center weekdays from noon to 4 p.m.
