Individual tickets to the Wartburg College Artist Series go on sale Monday, Aug. 4, with a varied program of popular acts.

The five-show lineup includes renowned shadow dance company Catapult from NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”; Rockapella, an a cappella quintet best known for its role on the PBS show “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”; a tribute to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and “The Big Bopper” Jiles Richardson; Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance”; and pianist Jim McDonough, a 1996 Wartburg graduate.

Adult tickets range from $16.50 to $35. Season tickets are currently available. Priced from $84 to $124, they represent a 20 percent savings over buying individual tickets.

Catapult will open the 2014-15 season Saturday, Sept. 27. The performances at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. will feature silhouettes of dancers in seemingly impossible arrangements.

Rockapella comes to campus Sunday, Oct. 5, for a 7:30 p.m. concert. The group achieved fame in the early 1990s and paved the way for the current a cappella revival seen in movies like “Pitch Perfect” and in network TV shows. The often-imitated group performs original pop songs and contemporary revisions of Motown, pop and soul classics.

At 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, “John Mueller’s Winter Dance Party” will take the audience back in time with a tribute to Holly, Valens and The Big Bopper on the 55th anniversary of the trio’s final performance, which took place at the legendary Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. Tickets for club seating near the stage and easy access to the cash bar are $45.

Wartburg College music students will perform the beloved comic opera “The Pirates of Penzance” Thursday, March 19-Saturday, March 21. The 19th century satire features a storyline centered on love, leap years and a band of softhearted pirates. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. all three nights, with a 3 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Student tickets (K-12) are $5 for this show and $10 for other Artist Series events.

Jim McDonough and his orchestra will play arrangements ranging from big band to Broadway Sunday, March 29, during a 3 p.m. performance of his highly acclaimed spring show.

All Artist Series performances are in Neumann Auditorium.

The Ticket Office is open from noon to 4 p.m. weekdays at the Information Center in Saemann Student Center, 319-352-8691. Tickets also may be purchased online at www.wartburg.edu/artist.
