More than 50 vendors will offer a wide array of informational booths and a Farmers Market Saturday, April 26, at the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center.

The seventh annual Community Health and Wellness Fair — sponsored by The W, HyVee and Waverly Health Center — will start at 8:30 a.m. in The W Hall of Champions. It will run through 11:30 a.m. The Farmers Market, which will be outside the north entrance of The W, will have the same hours. 

“The fair is a great opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about area health services, eating healthy, and staying active,” said Sheila Kittleson, The W director. 

New this year will be featured speakers offering information on radon safety and tips on gardening and healthy eating. At 9 a.m. Ron Lenth, Bremer County Extension Coordinator from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will present on radon awareness. Tammy and Rob Faux, co-owners of Genuine Faux Farm, will present at 10 a.m. (Best Friends in the Garden), 10:30 a.m. (Tips for Getting Kids to Eat Vegetables) and 11 a.m. (How to Plant Tomatoes). 

The Health and Wellness Fair also will feature car seat safety experts, free nervous system screenings, gait analysis for proper athletic shoe fit, information on indoor and outdoor activities in and around the Waverly community and assistance with Medicare and Part D signup. Vendors from the Waverly Farmers Market will offer early-season produce, eggs, garden plants and crafts.

Prizes, including $100 gift cards to local businesses and two May-August memberships to The W, also will be given away. 

Children can make a craft and receive a free balloon animal in the Kid Zone in the W classroom adjacent to the Hall of Champions.
