A whirlwind weekend of wrestling and track performances was capped off Saturday with a championship trophy and two top-five finishes.

The Wartburg wrestling team made history Saturday, March 15, winning its fourth-straight NCAA Championship — a first for Division III wrestling. The same day, the men’s indoor track and field team earned a school-best fourth-place finish in the NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championship; the women earned a third-place trophy.

The 11 NCAA team wrestling titles tie the Augsburg College record. Kenny Anderson ’14, Cole Welter ’14, and Landon Williams ’14 brought home three individual championship titles. Ryan Fank ’14 was a national runner-up. The team also boasts six All-Americans.

The women’s track team, led by Tashina McAllister ’14, who took home first in the 60-meter hurdles, earned a trophy for the seventh straight year.

Colt Feltes ’15 finished first in the men’s shot put, earning him the team’s first All-American and national champion in the event. The score, coupled with a second-place finish from Jonas Elusme ’14 in the high jump, put the team in Wartburg record books. The fourth-place finish easily topped the team’s previous best of 12th in 2008.
