Vince DiMartino — internationally known trumpet soloist and teacher — will perform and teach at the Wartburg Trumpet Festival, March 20-21.

DiMartino, retired artist-in-residence at Centre (Ky.) College, and Dr. Rolf Olson, director of bands and professor of trumpet at the University of South Dakota, will be the guest performers and clinicians at the fourth annual festival, which brings together 32 area middle and high school musicians for workshops and features two concerts open to the public.

DiMartino; Olson; Dr. Scott Muntefering, assistant professor of music and director of the Wartburg Brass Choir and Wartburg Trumpet Choir; and members of the Wartburg music faculty will perform in a recital Thursday, March 20. A finale concert will feature the guest artists, the Wartburg Trumpet Choir and the student mass trumpet choir Friday, March 21.

Both events begin at 7 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel and are free.

DiMartino has played with the Lionel Hampton, Chuck Mangione, and Clark Terry bands; toured with the Boston Pops; performed with major symphonies, and been a soloist with the U.S. Army Blues Jazz and Army Brass bands, U.S. Air Force Band of Flight and the U.S. Marine Corps Band.

He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and former professor at the University of Kentucky.
