Wartburg College’s Ritterchor, the men’s choir, and Festeberg, a nine-man a cappella ensemble, will perform in two Twin Cities concerts Feb. 28-March 1.

The groups, conducted by Dr. Lee Nelson, director of Wartburg choral activities, will sing at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley with the Eastview High School Concert Choir Friday at 7:30 p.m. A free-will donation will be collected.

The Eastview High School Concert Choir, conducted by Greg Douma, and the Wartburg Choir have been selected to perform at the North Central American Choral Directors’ Association conference in Des Moines in March. “They are a model high school program,” Nelson said.

The Ritterchor will be a featured choir at the 10th annual Collegiate Men’s Choral Festival at Bethel University in St. Paul Saturday at 7 p.m. The event hosted by the Great Northern Union Chorus also will feature the St. Olaf Viking Chorus and the Newfangled Four.

The Ritterchor program will include pieces ranging from classical works by Hans Leo Hassler and Edvard Grieg to contemporary works by Morten Lauridsen and Wartburg graduate Connor Koppin.

Nelson said the Collegiate Men’s Choral Festival will feature 250 men “singing in one of the best concert halls in the Midwest. It will be one of the most exciting concerts Ritterchor has ever been involved in.”
