The many events that led up to the Union victory in the Civil War will be explored during  Keep on Learning at Wartburg College beginning Thursday, Feb. 6.

Dr. Terry Lindell, Wartburg College professor of history, will present “The Civil War: 150 Years Later” on Thursday mornings — Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

Lindell will illustrate his presentations on the background of the Civil War, major battles, the Emancipation Proclamation, and the turning tide that led to Union victory with period photographs, Civil War music and video clips.

The Keep on Learning sessions in the Heritage Room of the Saemann Student Center begin with coffee at 9 a.m., followed by the presentation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Parking is available near Saemann Student Center for those entering campus on Wartburg Boulevard.

Pre-registration is not required. The first class of each session is free; a $30 fee is due at the second class.

The Wartburg Alumni and Parent Relations Office coordinates Keep on Learning with the assistance of a volunteer committee. For more information, call 319-352-8491 or e-mail alumni@wartburg.edu.
