Attorney Helen Leong will explore “Free Speech in America: What’s Next?” during Keep on Learning at Wartburg College beginning Thursday, Jan 9.

Leong will examine the First Amendment guarantee to free speech, outlining the legal aspects and focusing on how it pertains to the arts, media and campaign finance laws. Classes are on consecutive Thursdays — Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30 — in the Heritage Room of Saemann Student Center. Coffee is served at 9 a.m., followed by the class from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Pre-registration is not required. The first class of each session is free; a $30 fee is due at the second class. Parking is available in the lots and on the streets directly east of Saemann Student Center.

Leong, who is director of international student services at Wartburg, has a law degree from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Grinnell College. She has been an associate attorney with Gallagher, Langlas and Gallagher in Waverly and a research attorney for the Senate Majority Research Office of the Hawaii State Senate.
