Wartburg’s Christmas Vespers Worship Service will be Sunday, Dec. 15

The Cedar Valley community is invited to attend the annual Advent/Christmas Candlelight Vespers Worship Service at Wartburg College Sunday, Dec. 15. 

Student groups and soloists will perform preludial music at 6:30 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel. The service will begin at 7 p.m. and end with the lighting of candles. 

The service — for people of all ages — will feature familiar Christmas carols, candlelight, and a rich variety of musical selections by Wartburg’s Kantorei Choir, the Psalm 149 dance group and the Handbell Choir. 

Scripture readings will focus on the Christmas story with a homily by Pastor Brian Beckstrom.

The College and Black Student Union partnered to bring Rodney Lewis of Rodney's Kitchen in Waterloo to campus to prepare a traditional Black meal for dinner in Mensa as part of the College and organization's celebration of Black History Month, as reported by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
