Wartburg College has a busy sports agenda beginning Thursday, Nov. 14.

Four sports have earned NCAA Division III postseason competition, although one tourney is in the spring, while the football team is on the verge of an Iowa Conference championship and another possible NCAA playoff berth.

  • The Wartburg men’s soccer team earned an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament after tying for the Iowa Conference regular-season championship with Loras and Luther colleges. The Knights will host Dominican (Ill.) University on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a 7:30 p.m. game between Hope (Mich.) College and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The winners will play Saturday at 5 p.m. for the right to advance.
  • The Wartburg volleyball team, which won both the regular season and Iowa Conference tournament championships for the second straight year, opens the NCAA playoffs Thursday at 3 p.m. at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
  • The No. 3-ranked Wartburg women’s cross country team will defend its NCAA Central Region championship Saturday, Nov. 16, at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. The NCAA meet the following Saturday in Hanover, Ind., will pit the Knights, runners-up a year ago, against defending champion and No. 1-ranked Johns Hopkins and No. 2 Middlebury (Vt.) College.
  • The Wartburg football team has already clinched a share of the Iowa Conference championship and would win the title outright and an automatic NCAA playoff berth by defeating Loras College in Dubuque Saturday at 1 p.m.
  • Earlier this fall, the Wartburg women’s golf team won its seventh straight Iowa Conference title with a record for lowest score and claiming the top four positions. Freshman Rochelle Beardsley of Peosta was low medalist and Golfer of the Year. It awaits the NCAA tournament May 13-16 in Florida.
