Twenty Wartburg College athletic events can be viewed for free online this year through live-streaming on the newly created Knight Vision.

Knight Vision, a partnership between the Wartburg athletic and communication arts departments, will offer spectators live action, while its student employees get state-of-the art, real-world experience and pre-professional job opportunities.

Wartburg’s homecoming game against Buena Vista University Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1:30 p.m., will be available on Knight Vision at www.wartburgknightvision.com

All five home football games will be live-streamed, as well as five men and women’s basketball doubleheaders, three volleyball matches and two wrestling meets.

“Knight Vision was built using digital infrastructure and fiber-optic networks that connect Walston-Hoover Stadium and Levick Arena into a central control room,” said Travis Bockenstedt, KnightVision faculty adviser.

The online network will give students an inside look at multichannel distribution for audiences online, on mobile devices, and on cable.

Knight Vision, Bockenstedt said, will prepare its staff of up to 10 students to work in sports broadcasting departments for NCAA Division I institutions and minor league teams and lead to possible careers at major sports broadcasting networks.

“The new online media streaming channel reflects Wartburg’s commitment to real world integrated education,” he said.
