Waverly’s eighth annual Art Walk will feature the works of more than 40 Midwest artists displayed in Kohlmann Park, along the Cedar River, Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The juried fine arts and crafts show — founded and directed by Jennifer Jones Ruiz ’10 — will include painting, basketry, metal sculpture, photography, jewelry and more.

Damascus Road, a folk and bluegrass group, will perform from 1 to 3 p.m. Wartburg-Waverly Sports and Wellness Center staff will give yoga demonstrations every half hour between 10 a.m. and noon.

The event also will have kids’ activities, food vendors, a musical petting zoo provided by the Wartburg Community Symphony Association and the Waverly-Shell Rock “Art Bus Gallery,” which displays K-12 student artwork.

“We are thrilled with the interest from new and returning artists,” Jones said. “We have averaged right around 30 participants in the past, so it’s great to see the show continue to grow.”

Arthur Frick, Wartburg College professor emeritus, former art department chair and artist, will be the judge with cash prizes awarded for Best in Show, first, second and third places.

In case of inclement weather, the event will move to the Waverly-Shell Rock High School’s Bock Gym and cafeteria.

Art Walk is co-sponsored by Waverly Leisure Services and the Waverly Chamber of Commerce. Art Walk is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.waverlyartwalk.com or its Facebook page.
