The Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center will sponsor its sixth annual Community Health Fair Saturday morning, April 27.

The free event will run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at The W. Sponsors also include Waverly Health Center and Hy-Vee.

Dawn Wiegmann, RN, director of wellness and health promotions at The W, said the Health Fair traditionally attracts more than 500 area residents. It includes free health screenings, free samples of healthy foods, free prize drawings, free activities for kids, more than 50 vendor booths and the first Farmers Market of the year.

The Farmers Market, located at The W entrance, will feature locally grown plants, homemade goodies and crafts.

Inside The W, vendor booths will be located along the second-floor Hall of Champions. Medical, eye, dental, and physical therapy clinics will provide information as well as free services. A variety of local organizations will highlight programs that promote sustainable living and healthy lifestyles. Several vendors will be selling merchandise and food.

The fair offers free balloon animals for kids and supervised Mother’s Day crafts for preschool through Grade 4 in The W East Classroom.

Persons attending the fair can register for several prizes, including $100 gift cards to local businesses and summer memberships to The W.
