Keep on Learning will explore life-altering inventions in March
February 27, 2013
The March session of Wartburg College’s Keep on Learning series will explore inventions pivotal to the modern world.
Michael L. Sherer, editor emeritus of the Metro Lutheran and a 1963 Wartburg alumnus, will present “Grand and Glorious Game-changers” on Thursday mornings — March 7, 14, 21, 28.
Inspired by “The Discoverers,” a book by Harvard historian Daniel J. Boorstin, the course will consider the impact of time-measuring devices, magnifying lenses, the compass and the printing press.
Keep on Learning sessions meet in the Heritage Room of Saemann Student Center, beginning with coffee at 9 a.m., followed by the presentation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Parking is available near Saemann Student Center for those entering campus on Wartburg Boulevard.
Pre-registration is not required, and a $30 fee is payable at the second class.
The Wartburg Alumni and Parent Relations Office coordinates Keep on Learning with the assistance of a volunteer committee. For more information call 319-352-8491 or e-mail alumni@wartburg.edu.
