February 20, 2013
Nine contestants will compete for the coveted title of Mr. Wartburg Thursday, Feb. 28, at Wartburg College.
Tower Agency, the student-run public relations agency, will host the annual pageant with the students competing in three events beginning at 7 p.m. in McCaskey Lyceum. Tickets are $3, and audience members will be able to win prizes. Some of the proceeds will benefit Cedar Valley Friends of the Family.
While adorned in evening attire, the contestants will face a question-and-answer session, followed by a talent competition ranging from singing to cup stacking. The contest will conclude with demonstrations of school spirit.
A three-judge panel will determine the winner, including the reigning Mr. Wartburg, Hunter Pagel, a sophomore from Sumner; admissions counselor Tara Winter, and communication arts professor Bridget Shultz. Matt Gruemmer, a sophomore from Durant, and Karina “Kiki” Devine, a freshman from Apple Valley, Minn., will host.
