Cedar Falls sculptor Sarah Deppe will use “water refective art” to explore environmental issues in an exhibit at Wartburg College opening March 1.
Deppe’s portrayal of human-caused water problems will run through April 12 in the Waldemar A. Schmidt Gallery in Bachman Fine Arts Center. She will discuss the exhibit at a reception March 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily or by appointment.

Deppe, who has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa, uses reclaimed materials to create installations demonstrating the tension between the natural and industrial worlds.

“It is my intent to elicit a dialog about the dynamics of this juxtaposition and to illuminate the reckless indifference that exists to the environment,” Deppe said.

She has exhibited throughout the Midwest and in the Bahamas.
