Two of Iowa’s most-honored college vocal ensembles — the Wartburg Choir and Iowa State Singers — will perform in a joint concert Thursday, Feb. 28.

The concert — part of the Iowa State Singers’ Spring Tour — will begin at 5 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel. Each choir will sing a 25-minute program. Admission is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be accepted to help defray expenses.

Among its selections, the Wartburg Choir will sing “I Carry Your Heart with Me,” composed by Wartburg senior Connor Koppin of Mason City as well as “When David Heard” by Richard Burchard, “O Day Full of Grace” by F. Melius Christiansen and “Roll, Jordan, Roll” by Stacey V. Gibbs. Admission is a free-will offering.

The Wartburg Choir, directed by Dr. Lee Nelson, was critically acclaimed during recent international and Midwestern tours. It was invited to perform at the White House and the National Cathedral in December 2011 and at the American Choral Directors Association’s North Central regional convention in 2012.

The Iowa State Singers, under the direction of Dr. James Rodde, have performed in recent years at the National Collegiate Choral Organization convention and with the world-renowned Incheon City Chorale in South Korea.
