Dr. Gregory Peterson, an internationally acclaimed organist and chair of the Luther College music department, will be the guest artist at Wartburg College’s monthly “Bach’s Lunch” Friday, Feb. 15.

Peterson’s performance will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel preceded by a noon lunch and explanation of the program in the Chapel Commons.

Attendees are invited to bring a lunch or order one from Wartburg’s Den-Rittersaal by Wednesday prior to the performance by contacting Marcia Haugen, music department office coordinator, at marcia.haugen@wartburg.edu or 352-8300.

Peterson’s program will include Bach’s “Praeludium pro Organo Pleno,” “Orgelbüchlein (Passiontide Chorales)” and “Fuga a 5 con pedale pro Organo Pleno.”

Described as an organist with “imagination and verve,” Peterson has performed solo recitals throughout the United States and at such famed European venues as the Berlin Cathedral and Helsinki’s Rock Church. Prior to joining the Luther College faculty as professor of organ and church music, he was organist and minister of music at historic Old South Church in Boston.

Peterson earned his bachelor’s degree in music at Luther, his master’s degree from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and his doctorate in organ performance from the University of Iowa. He has studied at the Summer Institute for French Organ Study and at the Gothenburg International Organ Academy in Sweden.
