Iowa Public Television will air three broadcasts of its hour-long production of the 2011 Christmas with Wartburg concert.

The 64
th annual Christmas with Wartburg concert, “Savior of the Nations, Come,” was based on the well-known hymn translated by Martin Luther. Dr. Lee Nelson, Wartburg’s director of choral activities, combined traditional pieces and works from other cultures.

The performing groups include the Wartburg Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Craig A. Hancock; the Castle Singers vocal jazz ensemble and the St. Elizabeth Chorale women’s choir, both directed by Dr. Jane Andrews; and the Wartburg Choir and Ritterchor men’s choir, directed by Nelson.

World-renowned bass-baritone Simon Estes, distinguished professor of music and artist in residence, also performed.

Christmas with Wartburg will be shown at the following times on statewide Iowa Public Television:

  • Friday, Dec. 21, 9 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 23, 5 p.m.
  • Monday, Dec. 24, 9 p.m.
