Registration is in progress for more than 20 adult group fitness, extreme and specialty classes starting in September at the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center.

“We offer programs for all fitness levels,” said Nilan Lansing, assistant director for group fitness.  “Whether you are just beginning a journey toward better fitness or are ready for a challenge, we can accommodate your needs.”

Classes are open to all area residents. To register, stop at the Welcome Desk, which is located at The W entrance.

“You do not have to be a member of The W to participate, and you are welcome to try a class before committing to the session,” Lansing added.

Group fitness classes meet at times ranging from 5:40 a.m. through 8:10 p.m. Options include aerobics, weight training, cycling, yoga, water exercise and senior-specific programming, Participants can sign up for a month at a time or a four-month block.  

Members can take an unlimited number of classes for $20 per four-month block or $7 per month. Nonmember cost for one class is $60 for four months or $17 per month. Nonmember cost for unlimited classes is $100 for four months or $27 per month.  

In addition to group fitness classes, The W offers seven extreme and specialty classes designed for a more intense workout. These classes meet for up to five weeks, and fees vary by class.

“Our newest class, Fitness Mix, includes routines from several of our most popular classes, including Kickboxing, Fit to the Core, and Abs-n-More,” Lansing said.
