Baushuan Ger, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago, will be speaking Thursday, Sept. 20 at the University of Northern Iowa’s Office of International Programs’ Diplomat Series.

Ger will give a lecture, “Taiwan — A Strong Economic Partner of the U.S. in East Asia,” on Thursday, Sept. 20, 6-7 p.m., in the Curris Business Building Room 109 (John Deere Auditorium) at UNI.  The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Ger has bachelor and master’s degrees in political science from National Taiwan University. Among his varied positions, he has served the Republic of China as deputy director general, Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs; in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; deputy director general, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston; first secretary, Permanent Mission of Taiwan to the World Trade Organization; section chief, Passport Division, Bureau of Consular Affairs; secretary, Office of the Foreign Minister; and consul on Home Assignment, Department of Protocol.  In addition, was consul, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York; third secretary, ROC embassy to the Solomon Islands; desk officer, Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affair; chancellor, Taipei Representative Office in the United Kingdom; and desk officer, Department of Consular Affairs.
