Javier Colon, the winner of NBC’s “The Voice” competition, returns to Wartburg College Monday, April 2, for Entertainment ToKnight’s “Large Event.”

Student tickets for the 8 p.m. concert in Neumann Auditorium went on sale last week for $10 (with a Wartburg ID), and $25 for any additional tickets. Tickets are now available to faculty and staff as well at the Saemann Student Center ticket office for $25 (with a Wartburg ID) — with a two-ticket maximum.

The ticket office is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale to the public Monday, Feb. 13.

Colon, who appeared at Wartburg in an ETK concert prior to “The Voice,” won $100,000 plus a recording contract with Universal Republic Records. He is presently on his “Come Through For You” tour, featuring songs from the album of that same name available on iTunes. His debut post-“Voice” single, “Stitch By Stitch,” reached No. 17 on the Billboard charts, which was followed by “As Long As We Got Love,” featuring Natasha Bedingfield.

He previously recorded for Capitol Records as “Javier,” and had been a member of the EmcQ and The Derek Trucks bands before setting out as a solo act on his own label.

Colon, who was born in Stratford, Conn., is the son of a Dominican father (and disc jockey) and Puerto Rican mother. He studied music at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School and describes his sound as “acoustic soul.”

“My influences range from James Taylor to James Brown,” Colon has said. “I approach pop from a singer-songwriter’s perspective, and I try to infuse soul into that style.”

Colon has performed with Joss Stone, Darius Rucker, the Indigo Girls, Stevie Nicks and Adam Levine (whose Maroon 5 also performed at an ETK Large Event). He was a featured singer and songwriter for “October Sky” on Vanessa Williams’ album, “The Real Thing.”
