I’ve learned how to manage my time and be successful

NAME: Leah Crock
CLASS YEAR: 2022
HOMETOWN: Mechanicsville, Iowa
MAJORS: Accounting and business administration

ON-CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT: Phi Beta Lambda, Volunteer Action Center

HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON YOUR MAJOR: I decided on accounting because my high school business teacher recommended that I look into the field. After taking some classes and completing some internships, I knew it was for me.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER GRADUATION: After graduation, I plan to sit for the CPA exams and then begin working full time as a staff accountant for LattaHarris LLP in Tipton, Iowa.

HOW HAS WARTBURG SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS IN YOUR FIELD: Wartburg has set me up for success in my field by providing me opportunities to be eligible to sit for the CPA exams, have internship experiences, and receive a quality education.

WHAT KIND OF HANDS-ON OPPORTUNITIES HAVE YOU HAD THROUGH WARTBURG: I chose to do multiple internships during the last four years because I wanted to gain the hands-on experience and knowledge of what it is like to be an accountant. All the internships that I have done these past years have taught me so much. I was able to learn more about myself and where I want to go with my accounting degree.

HOW DID WARTBURG HELP YOU BE INVOLVED: Wartburg has taught me so much about time management. With working 20 hours a week, extra-circulars, and schoolwork, it can be a lot. However, through my time at Wartburg I have learned how to balance all the activities I’m involved in and how to be successful at the same time.

FAVORITE MEMORY AT WARTBURG: My favorite memory at Wartburg was this year’s Homecoming. It was so fun to celebrate the Wartburg community!

ADVICE FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: My advice for prospective students is to put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to try new things.

WHY IS WARTBURG WORTH IT: What makes Wartburg so worth it is the people and connections you will make along the way. I have met some of the most incredible and inspiring people here at Wartburg.
