Recognizing alumni and friends who live out the college's mission of leadership and service as a spirited expression of their faith and learning.

The most prestigious awards granted by Wartburg College are listed below. Nomination deadlines and additional information can be found at the links provided.

Graven Award

Nominations Open: Jan. 15
Nomination Deadline: March 1

The Graven Award is funded by the Judge Henry N. and Helen T. Graven Endowment for The Ministry of the Laity: The Church in the World and goes to a person “whose life is nurtured and guided by a strong sense of Christian calling and who is making a significant contribution to community, church and society.”  

Honorary Degrees

Nominations Open: Jan. 15
Nomination Deadline: March 1

Wartburg College confers honorary degrees in order to acknowledge individuals who, by virtue of their distinguished service or outstanding achievement, have demonstrated the personal qualities and values which the College espouses in our mission and goals.

Wartburg Medal

Nominations Open: Jan. 15
Nomination Deadline: March 1

The Wartburg Medal is awarded by the College to recognize individuals who have provided significant service over a sustained period of time to the College.  The Wartburg Medal recipients are individuals who have a personal commitment to the College’s mission, quality, and character.  

Alumni Citation

Nominations Open: Dec. 15
Nomination Deadline: March 1

The Wartburg Alumni Citation is given to alumni who graduated more than 15 years ago who live out the pillars of leadership, service, faith, and learning in their personal and professional lives. The awards are presented each fall during Homecoming & Family Weekend.

Young Alumni Award

Nominations Open: Sept. 15
Nomination Deadline: Nov. 15

The Young Alumni Award is given to alumni who graduated less than 15 years ago who live out the pillars of leadership, service, faith, and learning in their personal and professional lives. The awards are presented each spring.
