Wartburg College voice professor Dr. Jennifer Larson will solo with the Knightliters Jazz Band Saturday, April 14.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in McCaskey Lyceum of Wartburg’s Saemann Student Center. Admission is free. The student-led Ninth Street Jazz Band will open the evening, following by the Knightliters.

Well known across the country as a concert soloist and opera performer, Larson earned critical acclaim from USA Today for her “golden voice.” Locally, she has appeared as a soloist in Christmas with Wartburg and concerts by the Wartburg Community Symphony and the Cedar Valley Metropolitan Chorale.

“Our concert will allow the audience to hear her great renditions of some jazz classics,” said Knightliters director Allan Jacobson.

Larson will perform “Mood Indigo” by Duke Ellington, “Lullaby of Broadway” and “Alright, Okay, You Win,” a tune popularized by a number of singers, including Peggy Lee and Joe Williams.

Larson joined the Wartburg faculty in 2007. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice performance from the University of Michigan. She earned her B.A. and M.M. degrees in voice performance from the University of Utah.
